HOCKEY

The Olympic Winter Games always renew memories of the unbelievable U.S. Hockey Team win against Russia. Home ice. Huge underdogs. The miracle on ice. Today, the playing ice has been "leveled", with many olympic hockey squads having a nucleus of professional players. Everyone takes their hockey seriously. Oh....being from Michigan
we have to mention our
Red Wings...best of luck this year.

The season has started. Off-season and pre-season conditioning is becoming a factor. Has the hard work carried over to the long hockey season? Is the player taking steps to maintain the gains? In-season workouts keep hockey skill levels tuned, and are critical for helping players maintain strength & fitness levels, as well as injury prevention. They need productive training products they can easily add to these workouts. Time management is very important. If you can get more out of your workout in the same timeframe, you're giving yourself the best chance to succeed.

A number of NHL players use the SmartVest as a pre- and off-season training tool. Hopefully, they are open-minded enough to employ it during the season. Goalies, wings, centers, and defensemen are loading workouts to maximize conditioning, gain strength, and improve on-ice reaction time. It can do the same for you.

Off-Ice SmartVest/SmartShort opportunities:
       Running/Sprinting/Hill Repeats
       Jumping drills
       Plyometrics - hops,bounding,etc.
       Slide board workouts, and
       In-line skating
note: Several pro in-liners train with the SmartVest -
allowing them to maintain the 90 degree angle.

On-Ice w/o pads:
       Power skating
       Sprints
       Shot Drills
       Relays,etc.

Off-ice workouts involve more force of impact, so loading is more controlled (we provide recommendations based on % of body weight). On-Ice, will allow a more aggressive weight progression. But, all activities benefit from a natural weight dispersion that allows proper form and technique. We've had players wear their SmartVest under their practice gear for that little extra boost. They'll slip it off after a time and continue practice. This loading and unloading helps build speed and stamina. A very practical application. Especially, since the SmartVest/Shorts direct resistance to the core, the power source for hockey players.

p.s. Daily wear of the SmartVest, during non-training time, is a thumbs up. If it works for runners, basketball, and football players it will certainly apply to hockey. This is functional maintenance of overall strength and fitness. You don't change a thing you do. Just wear your vest, under your clothes, in non-training time. It's been proven to work. Take advantage of it. Use the SmartVest.
