Weight placement, individual weight size, and weight distribution can make or break your satisfaction with a weighted vest. To further explain, let's start at the core.

The core of the body is your power zone. You call upon it to help with nearly all of your physical activities. Running. Walking. Jumping. Lifting. Throwing. Core strength allows you to move with less effort and better balance. Good athletes have it.

Within your core is a center of gravity (about an inch below your belly button). Maintaining a good center of gravity helps your balance, and therefor how well you move.

The SmartVest was designed to distribute the weight(resistance) to the core and as close as possible to the center of gravity, without interfering with the hip.

The consensus was that loading the upper torso, front and back, would have a negative effect on balance and stability. Remember the much publicized studies of Sport Utility Vehicle crashes, reporting that many of the models involved were susceptible to rollover, because the center of gravity was too high. Sudden changes-of-direction caused momentum shifts of vehicle weight, and potential disaster. Additionally, when they were loaded with passengers and luggage they were even more prone to rollover. Automotive manufacturers certainly took those findings very seriously when considering newer models.

Products that have all the weight applied to the shoulders and upper torso are putting unnecessary demands on the body. They are not movement-friendly.

Balance is critical to efficient and responsive movement.

Your SVest workout will have the load evenly distributed around the lower torso and above the hip. Backpackers and climbers are taught to keep the load above the hips, because it makes it easier on the body. IT FEELS NATURAL.

Individual weights should allow for adjustability, be thin, have security in their positions, and be easy to remove and insert while the vest is on. No bouncing. No shifting. No distractions.

Demand the best.

It's your move.
